Why Do I Have Excess Fat?

Fat cells are distributed in a specific way in our bodies at birth. During puberty, depending on the estrogen and testosterone levels in the body, the distribution of fat cells changes as new fat cells form.

As we age, we typically don’t gain or lose fat cells. Instead, they grow or shrink depending on our diet, exercise, activity levels, and life experiences such as pregnancy.

Subcutaneous fat is located beneath the skin layers. Subcutaneous fat can be stubborn, but the right treatments can eliminate it, reducing the volume of problem areas and improving contours, proportions, and confidence.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a groundbreaking solution that freezes away fat cells in the subcutaneous fat layer with a technology known as cryolipolysis. The cell remnants are then gradually removed by the body. Because this treatment removes fat cells rather than shrinking them, treated regions are less likely to gain new inches.

During the procedure, the applicator is placed on the treatment area and kills your fat cells by freezing them. Your body’s natural metabolic processes then eliminate them. Once the fat cells are dead, they’re gone for good.

You may be able to see the initial results of CoolSculpting a few weeks after your initial treatment. However, most of Dr. Jaffer’s patients see their final results about 3 months after their last CoolSculpting session. The number of sessions required depends on your anatomy, the problem areas you want to target, and your desired results.

A 30-minute session uses specialized applicators to heat the treatment area and stimulate muscle contractions.
