Have you noticed fatty deposits on your abs, arms, back, thighs, or hips that just won’t go away? Many people don’t want to deal with the recovery time required by liposuction surgery, and diet and exercise can only do so much. To get rid of love handles or a muffin top easily and without any operations, you can freeze that fat away with CoolSculpting.
CoolSculpting is a Health Canada and FDA-approved body-contouring treatment effective for fat reduction in men and women. It’s non-invasive and non-surgical, so you won’t have to worry about scalpels, needles, or scars. Because it’s a natural process, the results will also end up looking more natural than those of surgical procedures.
How does CoolSculpting actually work? The science behind the procedure relies on a technique known as selective cryolipolysis. During it, freezing temperature is employed to induce lipolysis. Lipolysis is the process of lipid breakdown. In cryolipolysis, cold energy is used to crystallize lipids in the fat cells of a treated area, causing natural apoptosis, or cell death.
Selective cryolipolysis doesn’t affect all the cells in the targeted area. Instead, it only treats fat cells; this is because the lipids in the fat cells make it so the fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than other cells. Thus, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels in the area will not be injured, avoiding the risk of complications.
Before your CoolSculpting treatment begins, the skin of the targeted region of your body will be protected from the cooling energy with gel pads. These gel pads make it so no anesthesia or sedation is necessary. Applicator paddles create suction on the region, holding it away from your body for the duration of the procedure.
The applicator paddles then produce sustained cooling energy. While this occurs, you’ll be comfortable and free to enjoy a book, phone, tablet, or other handheld device. You can also take a nap. The entire process is completed in only one hour. If multiple regions are being treated, it may require an additional hour for each area.
After CoolSculpting from Dr. Jaffer, you’ll be able to go back to your normal day-to-day activities – no downtime needed! This convenient procedure is excellent for busy professionals. Burnaby and Vancouver patients may notice temporary mild swelling, bruising, redness, stinging, or numbness in the treated areas.
Your body will flush out the affected fat cells naturally over time. Three weeks after the treatment date, the targeted areas of the body will begin to show signs of reduction in size and thickness. The process will continue for two to six months, and by the end, an average of 20% of the region’s fat cells will have been removed.
One CoolSculpting treatment can cause a good amount of change in the targeted area, but in come Burnaby and Vancouver patients, multiple treatments are desired to further reduce the area in volume. Once your body has filtered out the broken-down fat cells, you can come back for a maximum of three more CoolSculpting treatments to each targeted area.
